2005 Royal Visit

The Provincial Archives of Alberta is pleased to announce that images from the 2005 Royal Visit are now available as part of the series, Government communications planning and coordination records (GR2012.0472), on our collections management database, Access to Memory (AtoM).

Twenty years ago, between May 17 and 25, 2005 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated the centennials of Alberta and Saskatchewan with a nine-day tour.  The Queen’s visit to Alberta was well-documented by the Government of Alberta who transferred the records relating to the visit to the Archives in 2012.  Over 11,000 images of the Queen’s visit, including images of dignitaries and sites such as the Royal Alberta Museum, Alberta Legislature and Government House, have been newly added to AtoM. Stay tuned – this accession includes thousands of more images and they are being added regularly!
